Wednesday of USCFW '14 was our Student Designer Showcase. Our theme was a floral ethereal theme with flowers and barely-there pastel tones. The show is a competition where 6 students design their own capsule collections, show them down the runway in front of our judges and compete for the title. Yoanna House, America's Next Top Model Winner Cycle 2 was a judge as well as Debbie McDaniel. During the judges' deliberation, USC's male a cappella group The Carolina Gentlemen performed a few songs for the audience. The audience also tweeted their favorite designer and collection for our "Crowd Favorite" award. My roommate, Miss South Carolina United States Mae Ann Webb was our host for the evening. Molly McNutt was our overall winner. Student vendors like Tank Top Tuesdays and To Be Bright set up booths in our Style Lounge to sell their products. We had a packed house! All of our seats were filled and more were standing along the perimeter. It was a great event and I was happy to contribute to it.
Thursday was our Finale Show and our last day of Fashion Week. The show continued on with the ethereal theme, but with a woodland nymph twist. Our finale consists of eight local retailers that each show eight of their favorite spring looks. The Student Designer Showcase winner, Molly McNutt, was also featured in the beginning of the show. Yoanna House was our host for the evening. Boutiques like Handpicked and Entourage set up booths in our Style Lounge along with campus representatives from ASOS and College Fashionista. Each retailer provided coupons for gift bags to be given out to guests. A silent auction is set up with various items from our retailers from gift cards to hand bags. Scholarships are handed out to exceptional Fashion Board members and we gave our advisor Dr. Boggs well deserved recognition and a bouquet of flowers. We also had another amazing turn out from guests and press for our Finale Show. It was the perfect way to end USCFW and it couldn't have happened without our amazing Executive Board. I am so happy to be apart of an amazing organization. (You can find my beautiful roommates strutting their stuff down our runway!)
